Na­tional park fire burns 10ha

THE cause of a bush­fire that burnt through 10ha of land in the Green­mount Na­tional Park ear­lier this week is un­known.

The fire was re­ported at 4.07pm on Tues­day and started near the in­ter­sec­tion of Green­mount Rise and Robin­son Road.

Depart­ment of Fire and Emer­gency Ser­vices district of­fi­cer Nigel El­liott said ca­reer fire­fight­ers, DPaW and lo­cal brigades at­tended the fire.

“It was a dif­fi­cult job for fireys, as it was burn­ing in in­ac­ces­si­ble and hilly coun­try, which makes it dif­fi­cult to man­age,” he said.

The Goat Farm moun­tain bike fa­cil­ity in Green­mount Na­tional Park has been closed.
