New building open

Avon Valley Gazette - - NEWS -

MUNDARING Christian College students celebrated the opening of a second building at the senior campus in Parkerville.

About 250 students, parents and staff explored the $ 4 million facility on the school’s 44ha campus before they assembled inside for the first assembly.

Principal Rod McNeill said the new space was a reflection of the value placed on the school’s senior students.

“Our job is not to limit our students to traditional models of learning, but rather to lift them and give them the resources they need,” he said.

“These buildings enable us to focus on student creativity, character, and commitment to learning through engaging spaces.”

The newest building features collaborative learning spaces and university- style conference and workshop rooms.

Funding for the project came from a $ 2.75 million low- interest loan from the State Government and a $ 1.264 million capital grant from the Commonwealth Government.

Year 9 student Clair Stanwix said the new building and furniture added to her learning experience.

“The beautiful views are good for learning, and this school is giving us students a great opportunity to do our best,” she said.

The senior campus opened in 2016 and currently more than 260 students attend the secondary school. A third Year 7 class was added recently to meet an increase in demand for student places at the college.
