Suns look­ing to rise

THE Kala­munda Eastern Suns will look to re­cover from a win­less dou­ble­header when they face Perry Lakes in the State Bas­ket­ball League on Fri­day night.

The Suns were eas­ily beaten in both of their games last week­end, with a 30- point loss to Lake­side away on Fri­day and a 20point loss to Ger­ald­ton at home on Sun­day.

On Sun­day, the Buccs made a hot start with 33 points to 22 in the open­ing quar­ter and led the game from start to fin­ish in the 108- 88 vic­tory.

Kevin Davis top­scored with 21 points and 10 re­bounds for the Eastern Suns, while Lo­gan Viskovich con­trib­uted 20 points, Jono Diaz 19 points, five as­sists and four re­bounds, and Ker­rod Horn 14 points, four as­sists and three re­bounds de­spite nine turnovers. On Fri­day, Lake­side held the vis­i­tors to just nine points in the third pe­riod to win 95- 65.

Davis was again the best player with 14 points and 14 re­bounds.

The re­sults were not any bet­ter in the women’s com­pe­ti­tion, with the Suns los­ing to the Light­ning 97- 78.

Alex Ci­a­bat­toni de­liv­ered an­other strong all­round per­for­mance for the Eastern Suns with 29 points, 10 re­bounds, seven as­sists and five steals on shoot­ing 14/ 27 from the field.

Jewel Wil­liams scored 18 points to go with six re­bounds for Kala­munda, while Jen­nie Rin­tala added 11 points and five boards.
