Suns looking to rise
THE Kalamunda Eastern Suns will look to recover from a winless doubleheader when they face Perry Lakes in the State Basketball League on Friday night.
The Suns were easily beaten in both of their games last weekend, with a 30- point loss to Lakeside away on Friday and a 20point loss to Geraldton at home on Sunday.
On Sunday, the Buccs made a hot start with 33 points to 22 in the opening quarter and led the game from start to finish in the 108- 88 victory.
Kevin Davis topscored with 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Eastern Suns, while Logan Viskovich contributed 20 points, Jono Diaz 19 points, five assists and four rebounds, and Kerrod Horn 14 points, four assists and three rebounds despite nine turnovers. On Friday, Lakeside held the visitors to just nine points in the third period to win 95- 65.
Davis was again the best player with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
The results were not any better in the women’s competition, with the Suns losing to the Lightning 97- 78.
Alex Ciabattoni delivered another strong allround performance for the Eastern Suns with 29 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and five steals on shooting 14/ 27 from the field.
Jewel Williams scored 18 points to go with six rebounds for Kalamunda, while Jennie Rintala added 11 points and five boards.
