MIMMO Sa­batino makes, sells and dis­trib­utes award­win­ning gelatos, all from his home in He­lena Val­ley.

De­spite not yet es­tab­lish­ing a bricks and mor­tar pro­duc­tion lo­ca­tion, he has built Mimmo’s Gourmet Ge­lato into a vi­able whole­saler that sup­plies wed­dings, func­tions and ice cream­eries from a spe­cially built back­yard ge­lato lab­o­ra­tory.

The busi­ness won cham­pion ge­lato and cham­pion sor­bet at this year’s Perth Royal Dairy Awards, an an­nual pre­sen­ta­tion from the Royal Agri­cul­tural So­ci­ety of WA to recog­nise the state’s best pro­duce.

Mr Sa­batino ( 53) said he was proud of the awards and he loved what he did.

“I grew up in the food in­dus­try, it’s in the blood. I en­joy what I do,” Mr Sa­batino said.

His favourite flavour is dark choco­late sor­bet.
