Aged care project starts

Avon Valley Gazette - - NEWS - Sarah Brookes

A $ 90 million world- class aged care development in High Wycombe plagued by delays spanning more than a decade now looks set to finally be built.

Hall and Prior chief executive Graeme Prior said the company was thrilled the project on Hawkevale Road was finally getting underway.

“Karingal Green is a very exciting project, but it is also a really important project for WA,” he said.

“The state- of- the- art contemporary design and highquality inclusions are impressive in their own right – but most importantly it will deliver a much- needed aged care precinct that is able to cater for the needs of local people and their families.

“As people age and have greater care needs, they not only want access to worldclass care, health services and facilities – they also want to remain connected to their community.

“Experience tells us that in- care health outcomes are better when spouses stay together and people retain their daily relationships with both family and the community.”

On completion, Karingal Green will provide 160 aged care beds catering for both high- dependency and lowcare needs residents, allowing them to age in peace and enable couples to stay together despite requiring different levels of care.

Karingal Green is scheduled for completion in December 2019.
