Funds to help mark ar­mistice

THE Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment has given RSL sub­branches al­most $ 12,000 for projects to mark the 100th an­niver­sary of the end of World War I.

Pearce MHR Chris­tian Porter said or­gan­i­sa­tions in his elec­torate re­ceived fund­ing through the ar­mistice cen­te­nary grants pro­gram ahead of Re­mem­brance Day on Novem­ber 11.

The York RSL re­ceived $ 6364 to make a metal arch and low brick wall with memo­rial plaques, while the Northam RSL re­ceived $ 5455 for ac­tiv­i­ties in the four weeks lead­ing up to Novem­ber 11.

“Each of these projects is a fit­ting trib­ute to ap­pro­pri­ately ac­knowl­edge the end of the war 100 years ago,” Mr Porter said.
