Funds to help mark armistice
THE Federal Government has given RSL subbranches almost $ 12,000 for projects to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.
Pearce MHR Christian Porter said organisations in his electorate received funding through the armistice centenary grants program ahead of Remembrance Day on November 11.
The York RSL received $ 6364 to make a metal arch and low brick wall with memorial plaques, while the Northam RSL received $ 5455 for activities in the four weeks leading up to November 11.
“Each of these projects is a fitting tribute to appropriately acknowledge the end of the war 100 years ago,” Mr Porter said.
