PIG HUNT SUCCESS
AT THE beginning of July, members of the Balonne community participated in a Boar Buster weekend.
Organisers would like to thank everyone who sponsored, participated in or helped organise the Linhai Balonne Boar Buster 2017 on July 3.
We were absolutely blown away by the attendance and the number of feral animals that were caught during the July weekend.
We had three days of total pest eradication to help our farmers with feral animal control.
A total of 1036 pigs were caught and 32,437kg of dressed pigs were weighted.
This was in comparison to last year’s total of 327 pigs for a weight of 8319kg.
The Balonne Boar Buster is a family-orientated event that is held once a year to help eradicate feral pests in the region.
Every year we like to donate to a different charity and this year we made a generous donation of $2000 to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Next year will be our fifth year running Balonne Boar Buster in St George.
We hope to see you all there in 2018.
GREAT EFFORT: Participants of this year’s Boar Buster, in which a whopping 1036 feral pigs were caught.
