Roma and Bol­lon cam­p­drafts done and dusted for an­other year

CAM­P­DRAFT: More than 200 com­peti­tors and 1600 head of cat­tle took to the ring at Bas­sett Park for the three-day Golden Hob­bles Cam­p­draft at the week­end.

Com­peti­tors came from near and far, in­clud­ing rid­ers from cen­tral Queens­land and north­ern New South Wales.

The pro­gram in­cluded thou­sands of dol­lars of prize money across a num­ber of maiden, novice, ju­ve­nile, ju­nior, open, ladies and en­cour­age­ment drafts.

Golden Hob­bles Cam­p­draft pres­i­dent James McAu­ley said the week­end was a mas­sive suc­cess.

“We had qual­ity live­stock and the com­pe­ti­tion was of a very high stan­dard,” he said.

Hayley Knud­sen won the ju­nior draft. Shari Knud­sen won the re­stricted open. Theresa Lawrence won the ladies fi­nal. Gavin Roberts won the open after he and Matt Durkin tied on 171 points. Sandy Stew­art won the en­cour­age­ment. Cameron Lee, Wil­liam Goetsch and Jody Crozier won the bare­back cut out.

The Bol­lon Cam­p­draft was also held at the week­end with a range of ju­nior draft win­ners and placeget­ters.

Camp­bell Shen­field was first, with Katie ONeil sec­ond, Char­lotte Winks third, Sam Rollins fourth, Emily O’Neil fifth, and Matilda Fry and Ri­ley ONeill placed equal sixth.

The high­est cut-out went to Camp­bell Shen­field.

En­cour­age­ment awards went to Chloe South­ern and Clin­ton O'Neill. Thanks to Luke Tay­lor Horse Chi­ro­pract­ing for his con­tin­ued sup­port of the Bol­lon Draft.
