It’s a war tale without a whole lot of blood and gore, and considering the amount of that on our screens – fictional or otherwise – this show is a welcome reprieve. The season two premiere of this period drama begins in June 1940 as Britain faces the threat of imminent invasion during World War II. The villagers of Great Paxford live under a cloud of fear which leads to suspicion and distrust of their neighbours. Who can they trust when lives are literally on the line? Tonight, Pat (Claire Rushbrook) strikes up a friendship with a Czech soldier stationed nearby, while Laura (Leila Mimmack) is forced to face the consequences of her affair.
