Carnival for stu­dents from area

SWIM­MING: The an­nual Balonne Small Schools Swim­ming Carnival was held re­cently, with stu­dents from schools in­clud­ing Be­go­nia, Bol­lon, Hebel and Thal­lon all trav­el­ling to St Ge­orge to show­case their skills.

Be­go­nia came out as the top school, fol­lowed by Thal­lon, Bol­lon and Hebel.

A cou­ple of records were shat­tered at the event, in­clud­ing Clancy Wright, from Thal­lon, go­ing into the his­tory books for the 12 years boys 50m freestyle, breas­troke, back­stroke and but­ter­fly.

Ge­orge Trindall, also from Thal­lon, broke the six years boys 25m but­ter­fly.

There were also some records set for new events added to the pro­gram this year in­clud­ing Lin­coln Wil­son (Bol­lon) in the nine years boys 50m for all strokes.

■ Seven years girl Lucy Burns (Bol­lon); boy Digby Lyons (Be­go­nia)

■ Eight years girl Georgie Hill (Thal­lon)

■ Nine years girl Meg Trindall (Thal­lon); boy Lin­coln Wil­son (Bol­lon)

■ 10 years girls Abbey Gor­don (Be­go­nia); boy Tyler Wil­son (Bol­lon)

■ 11 years girl Mar­icka Mur­phy (Be­go­nia); boy John Mur­phy (Thal­lon)

■ 12 years boys Clancy Wright (Thal­lon)

■ Over­all boys’ win­ner – Clancy Wright (Thal­lon)

■ Over­all girls’ win­ners – Georgie Hill (Thal­lon) Meg Trindall (Thal­lon).
