Carnival for students from area
SWIMMING: The annual Balonne Small Schools Swimming Carnival was held recently, with students from schools including Begonia, Bollon, Hebel and Thallon all travelling to St George to showcase their skills.
Begonia came out as the top school, followed by Thallon, Bollon and Hebel.
A couple of records were shattered at the event, including Clancy Wright, from Thallon, going into the history books for the 12 years boys 50m freestyle, breastroke, backstroke and butterfly.
George Trindall, also from Thallon, broke the six years boys 25m butterfly.
There were also some records set for new events added to the program this year including Lincoln Wilson (Bollon) in the nine years boys 50m for all strokes.

■ Eight years girl Georgie Hill (Thallon)

■ 10 years girls Abbey Gordon (Begonia); boy Tyler Wilson (Bollon)
■ 11 years girl Maricka Murphy (Begonia); boy John Murphy (Thallon)
■ 12 years boys Clancy Wright (Thallon)
■ Overall boys’ winner – Clancy Wright (Thallon)
■ Overall girls’ winners – Georgie Hill (Thallon) Meg Trindall (Thallon).
