Driver dies, pas­sen­ger air­lifted

ONE man has died and another per­son was se­ri­ously in­jured in a sin­gle-ve­hi­cle ac­ci­dent on Wed­nes­day morn­ing.

Emer­gency ser­vices were called just af­ter 11am, af­ter re­ports of a car hit­ting a tree.

The ac­ci­dent hap­pened 60km from Dalby, 10km south­west of the in­ter­sec­tion of Moonie High­way and Su­rat–Devel­op­men­tal Rd.

QPS Me­dia said the male driver was pro­nounced dead at the scene.

A QFES spokesman said hy­draulic cut­ting tools were re­quired to free the male driver and fe­male pas­sen­ger from the ve­hi­cle.

The fe­male pas­sen­ger, in her 20s, was air­lifted by RACQ LifeF­light to Bris­bane’s Princess Alexan­dra Hos­pi­tal in a se­ri­ous but sta­ble con­di­tion, ac­cord­ing to a Queens­land Am­bu­lance Ser­vice spokesman.

The QAS spokesman said the pas­sen­ger had suf­fered in­juries to her face and neck.

The ac­ci­dent is be­ing in­ves­ti­gated.
