Guests help shine the light

GUESTS and vis­i­tors de­scended on Moore­lands Bush Nurs­ery in Roma on Fri­day night to cel­e­brate the EzyQuip Hire’s Shine the

Light cock­tail party.

The event was the brain­child of five women – Bec Can­non, Tracey Lew­ing­ton, Kate Fay, Stacey John­son and Ellen Bain – who came to­gether to raise aware­ness of men­tal health is­sues fol­low­ing the death of close friend Sharon Scherf.

Pro­ceeds from the event went to the Scherf fam­ily and men­tal health or­gan­i­sa­tion RUOK?

Bec Can­non de­scribed the event as an “amaz­ing night” which cap­tured the hearts and minds of more than 400 peo­ple who at­tended.

“It has been re­ally well re­ceived and is a credit to the Roma com­mu­nity for sup­port­ing such a great cause,” Ms Can­non said.

“All the feed­back we’ve been re­ceiv­ing from emails and mes­sages have been re­ally pos­i­tive and we haven’t heard a bad word.” The com­mit­tee ex­pect the
