Balonne Beacon - - NEWS -

IT’S TIME for community groups to start planning projects for 2019 with Maranoa Regional Council being successful in receiving RADF funding from Arts Queensland.

Council received $25,000 from Arts Queensland for the 2018/19 year with RADF rounds for funding to open next year in February.

Councillor Geoff McMullen, RADF Committee member, said it was great to receive this funding for our community to help deliver special cultural experiences to our region. “It is the perfect opportunity for community groups to start thinking and planning ideas for projects that highlight and promote the arts,” Cr McMullen said.

“Last year’s RADF funding has helped to support the Small Museums Conference being held in Roma this year from Friday, October 26 to Sunday, October 28.

“The conference is a fantastic opportunity for local volunteers to learn and be inspired to preserve and share local history.”

Queensland Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch said investing in creative and cultural experiences through the Regional Arts Development Fund strengthened regional communities, boosted cultural tourism, and enhanced the quality of life in rural and remote towns and cities. “RADF is a unique partnership between the Queensland Government and Maranoa Regional Council to support local talent, unite communities and celebrate the arts across the state.

“The Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland, is contributing $2.08 million in 2018-19 in partnership with 58 councils statewide to help deliver cultural experiences which align with local priorities,” Ms Enoch said.
