Chill out this holiday
WITH Term 3 wrapped up some parents will be hearing the words “I’m bored”. Council’s Chillout program can help solve that problem with a great variety of free and low-cost recreation activities for young people up to 17 years. Bookings are essential for most Chillout activities. More details are available on the Council website at www.brisbane.qld.gov.au (search ‘chill out’).
IF you are looking to add some greenery to your yard this spring visit my office and pick up your free plant voucher. Once each financial year ratepayers, Housing Commission and Defence Housing residents are entitled to claim two free native plants. You will need to bring along your current paid financial year rates notices, which will be accepted in exchange for a voucher. If you rent or lease a property, your body corporate or the property owner must make the application. Owners of unit properties must make an application through their body corporate.
THE Council Cab service organises shared taxis at scheduled times for residents who find it difficult to get to their local shops. You can use this service if you are either over 60 years of age, mobility impaired, a Pensioner Concession Card or Centrelink Seniors Card holder, a child under the care of an eligible person, or a carer accompanying someone who is eligible. If you would like a flyer with all the details either pop down to my office in Cliff Street, Sandgate or give me a call on 3667 6011 and I can send you one.
