A CEL­E­BRA­TION of Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Is­lan­der Peo­ples’ cul­ture and tra­di­tion through totem arts.

Join lo­cal in­dige­nous artists in an ex­pres­sion of cul­ture and lan­guages through tra­di­tion totem arts.

The com­mu­nity is in­vited to at­tend a free bar­be­cue and par­tic­i­pate in a totem paint­ing ac­tiv­ity. The event will be fa­cil­i­tated by in­dige­nous artists and young peo­ple will have the op­por­tu­nity to as­sist through hand print­ing.

Other ac­tiv­i­ties will also be avail­able for younger chil­dren.

SANDBAG, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Is­lan­ders com­mu­ni­ties of north Bris­bane, is host­ing the free art event at Fitzgib­bon Com­mu­nity Cen­tre. Ev­ery­one is wel­come to at­tend and par­tic­i­pate in the art­work that will be­come a fea­ture within the com­mu­nity.

A morn­ing tea and bar­be­cue lunch will be also pro­vided on the day. Be­ing sun safe and us­ing in­sect re­pel­lent is en­cour­aged.
