are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the at­tempted rob­bery of a taxi driver in As­p­ley on Fri­day, Septem­ber 22. At 8.45pm, the 38-year-old male driver picked up a fare with two pas­sen­gers from a Robin­son Road West ad­dress. On ar­rival, he ex­ited the ve­hi­cle to put up the third row of seats and while ad­just­ing the seat, one of the pas­sen­gers struck him in the head with a wine bot­tle. The sec­ond pas­sen­ger en­tered the driver’s seat how­ever, the driver man­aged to re­moved him be­fore both pas­sen­gers fled. Both men are de­scribed as Abo­rig­i­nal or Tor­res Strait Is­lan­der in ap­pear­ance around 170cms, slim builds and aged be­tween 20-25 years. The taxi driver sus­tained mi­nor in­juries as a re­sult of the in­ci­dent. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
