Exciting times for local fire stations
IT was terrific to be out door knocking residents across Bracken Ridge recently, sharing with them the important news about the Palaszczuk Government’s development of a new, $5.8m Fire and Rescue Station on Bracken Ridge Road. To be completed by 2020, this state-of-the-art facility will accommodate for to 40 staff and three appliances to meet the current and future needs of the community. The existing station on Brighton Road will remain fully operational until works are completed at the new station. I have secured a commitment for the existing site to remain a community asset through a closed tender process for local community groups. I very much look forward to working alongside our community groups through this process. I also welcome your ideas and thoughts moving forward. Contact my office on 3639 9100 or via email at Sandgate@parliament.qld.gov.au to be part of the discussion.
WE all know that every dollar spent on local businesses contributes to growing our local economy. That’s why I’m urging all locals to join me in support of the ‘Go Local, Grow Local’ campaign part of the Palaszczuk Government’s commitment to ensuring our local community is the place for small business to start, grow and employ. By helping our small businesses succeed, we are also helping to build a stronger local community. More information on the ‘Go Local, Grow Local’ campaign can be found at: www.business.qld.gov.au /starting-business/advice -support/support/small-b usiness/go-local.
IF you need some more ideas for the young ones to keep them entertained then head over to SANDBAG who are holding a series of activities over the holiday break. On Wednesday, September 27 they are holding woodworking workshops where children can make a robot or name board at the Sandgate Community Centre, 153 Rainbow Street. On Thursday September 28 there is free totem painting and a barbecue at the Fitzgibbon Community Centre, 545 Roghan Road, Fitzgibbon. Bookings are essential so RSVP to Kylie Lamb on 3869 3244 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
FINALLY, I would like to thank all readers for their interest in reading this column from your local State Member of Parliament over the past few years. It has been a privilege to have shared with you the stories of our unique community and the positive impact the Palaszczuk Government has had on our local community.
