Cosy reds for win­ter

As win­ter draws in, it’s the per­fect time for bold, warm­ing reds like this oak-aged Span­ish ri­oja. Di­nastía Man­zanos have been mak­ing wine for 120 years but this is not a tra­di­tional ri­oja. Though it’s made from tem­pranillo, the ar­che­typal ri­oja grape, it’s closer to Bordeaux in style with its dense dark fruit and spicy savoury oak. It’s full-bod­ied, rich and ripe flavours go well with roast beef or lamb. This wine is in­cluded in our reds case this month (there’s also a mixed case on of­fer) – turn to page 118 for de­tails.
