• To turn out the steamed pud­ding, run a flex­i­ble knife be­tween the basin and the pud­ding, and place an up­turned plate on top. Flip both the basin and plate over and care­fully lift off the basin.

• Brush the pud­ding with a lit­tle golden syrup just be­fore serv­ing to make it shine.

• If any cher­ries have be­come buried in cake bat­ter, you can pick it away with a skewer to show them off.
