Melissa gave us her impression of this year’s Maison & Objet fair in Paris ( p61). What aspects spoke to your design sensibility? The crowd was the shiniest, sassiest and best-dressed I’ve seen at any world trade fair in years. Your enduring creative in uences? My father who was head of historic Sydney printing company WC Penfold and my glam mother who created the most beautiful houses all over the world. Where is home for you and what do you love about it? I split my time between our place in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and our country pad in the southern highlands, which is de nitely ‘home’ – it’s all about fun, family, food, entertaining and living the good life. Favourite local haunts? Caffe Rosso in Bowral, where I always have the pizza. I go to Antiques on Consignment in Braemar, NSW, my favourite shopping haunt. Your ultimate travel escape in 2016? All my pals are talking about Cheval Blanc in the Maldives, which sounds nice. What’s on your reading list? Whatever magazine has a ‘Current Issue! Air-freight copy!’ sticker on the front cover.
