Emerging and established design firms shared the spotlight at the 2017 Belle Coco Republic Interior Design Awards.
THE SEVENTH ANNUAL BELLE COCO REPUBLIC Interior Design Awards delivered a fabulously fresh line-up of design victors. William Smart of Smart Design Studio scored a hat-trick with Indigo Slam, home of philanthropist Judith Neilson, picking up Best Residential Interior, Best Kitchen Design and a joint win for the Best Residential Bathroom Design for the incredible landmark building in Sydney’s Chippendale. Jonathan Richards and Kirsten Stanisich, directors of interior design at SJB, Sydney, were awarded the highly coveted Belle Coco Republic Interior Designer of the Year for their work across all categories. Melbourne-based B.E Architecture won the Best Residential Bathroom Design category sharing with Smart Design Studio’s Indigo Slam. Last year’s interior designer of the year, Fiona Lynch, continued her winning streak with the prize for Best Commercial Interior for Viktoria & Woods. Yasmine Ghoniem of design firm Amber Road collected the inaugural Rado Emerging Design Star prize. David Flack’s clever fusion of quirk and sophistication earned him the Best Work with Colour Award and the A-list’s most in-demand interior designer, Thomas Hamel, won the Belle Coco Republic Readers’ Choice Award.
