Emerg­ing and es­tab­lished de­sign firms shared the spot­light at the 2017 Belle Coco Repub­lic In­te­rior De­sign Awards.

THE SEV­ENTH AN­NUAL BELLE COCO REPUB­LIC In­te­rior De­sign Awards de­liv­ered a fab­u­lously fresh line-up of de­sign vic­tors. Wil­liam Smart of Smart De­sign Stu­dio scored a hat-trick with In­digo Slam, home of phi­lan­thropist Ju­dith Neil­son, pick­ing up Best Res­i­den­tial In­te­rior, Best Kitchen De­sign and a joint win for the Best Res­i­den­tial Bath­room De­sign for the in­cred­i­ble land­mark build­ing in Syd­ney’s Chip­pen­dale. Jonathan Richards and Kirsten Stanisich, di­rec­tors of in­te­rior de­sign at SJB, Syd­ney, were awarded the highly cov­eted Belle Coco Repub­lic In­te­rior De­signer of the Year for their work across all cat­e­gories. Mel­bourne-based B.E Ar­chi­tec­ture won the Best Res­i­den­tial Bath­room De­sign cat­e­gory shar­ing with Smart De­sign Stu­dio’s In­digo Slam. Last year’s in­te­rior de­signer of the year, Fiona Lynch, con­tin­ued her win­ning streak with the prize for Best Com­mer­cial In­te­rior for Vik­to­ria & Woods. Yas­mine Ghoniem of de­sign firm Am­ber Road col­lected the inau­gu­ral Rado Emerg­ing De­sign Star prize. David Flack’s clever fu­sion of quirk and so­phis­ti­ca­tion earned him the Best Work with Colour Award and the A-list’s most in-de­mand in­te­rior de­signer, Thomas Hamel, won the Belle Coco Repub­lic Read­ers’ Choice Award.
