Loans for fire-affected farmers
Victorian Nationals Deputy Leader and State Member for Euroa Steph Ryan has welcomed concessional loans being made available for primary producers impacted by recent bushfires.
The announcement comes after Ms Ryan and State Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy wrote to Emergency Services Minister Jane Garrett last week.
‘‘I am pleased the new government has responded to our request for low-interest loans,’’ Ms Ryan said.
Category B Concessional Interest Rate Loans of up to $200 000 will be provided through the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangement (NDRRA).
‘‘Fire-affected primary producers in north-east and west Victoria will be eligible to apply for a concessional loan,’’ Ms Ryan said.
‘‘The massive clean-up and recovery that is now required, particularly in the Stewarton and Lake Rowan areas, will be greatly assisted by this ad- ditional support.’’
Ms Ryan said Ms Garrett had accepted her invitation to visit the area this week.
