Store gets a facelift
The familiar supermarket on the corner of Clarke and Waller Sts has undergone a facelift.
Under new ownership and management since November, the community supermarket has been rebranded and renamed.
Now known as Foodcity @ Benalla, the supermarket is the first in what the management team hopes will be a national chain.
‘‘We know the attachment people have with this (supermarket),’’ business development manager Nadeeka Perera said.
‘‘It’s the first supermarket as a company that we have acquired and we aim to develop it into a chain and that’s the first step of that.’’
Along with the new name, the Clarke St supermarket has been refreshed both inside and out.
There is improved airconditioning, and Mr Perera said the cleanliness and appearance of the store had also improved.
‘‘We wanted to give it a facelift and a new look,’’ he said.
‘‘We are on the verge of introducing all the leading products of leading brands and try to offer quality and a fresh product range that the customer needs at a reasonable price.’’
Another aim for the business is to form strong connections with the community.
‘‘We are looking at options to help local organisations and charities and to help whoever needs help within our capacity at the start of our business,’’ Mr Perera said.
‘‘We want to link with the community and have an ongoing relationship.’’
The supermarket is open seven days a week from 7 am to 8 pm.
Foodcity @ Benalla is at 122-124 Waller St, Benalla. For more information phone 5762 4645.
