Action aplenty on court
With the Australian Open now over, tennis is back into full swing with Tuesday ladies, Saturday morning, Benalla District and Wednesday evening competitions all underway.
On Sunday Benalla Lawn Tennis Club hosted the North East Veterans with 62 players utilisising the courts all day.
The Veterans tournament attracted players from the north east region as well as from Bendigo, Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula.
It was a successful day with players enjoying Benalla’s hospitality, excellent grass courts and the warm weather.
Benalla Lawn Tennis Club president Wendy Maxwell acknowledged the contribution of the team of volunteers who give their time on numer- ous occasions to enable players to enjoy the facilities.
Benalla Lawn Tennis Club will also be hosting the Bradtke Luczak Cup on the weekend of February 14 and 15.
The Bradtke Luczak Cup is a regional tournament for players aged 15 and under.
Eleven regional teams are expected to participate with players playing singles and mixed doubles matches in a round robin format.
Benalla Lawn Tennis Club last hosted a regional event in 2010 when the Inter Regional Championships were played here, prior to this it was the Foundation Cup a tournament for 13 and under girls and the Inter regional Championships again in 2001.

The Benalla Rovers Soccer Club will be holding a Family Fun Registration Day on February 22.
This will include small sided soccer games for juniors, and two main events: a pre-season soccer match for the Benalla Senior side, and a pre-season match for the women’s team.
The day will also include a registration table for all new members wanting to join.
Junior training will be held weekly at 5.30 pm on Tuesdays.
