Winton hosts cross country
Winton Motor Raceway will today host a very different kind of race — the School Sport Victoria Hume Region Cross Country Championships, bringing together the best primary and secondary athletes from across the region.
The Hume Region stretches wide and far from Wodonga to Kilmore and East, to Corryong to Shepparton.
There are 42 secondary schools and 200 primary schools represented at the event, which starts today at 10.30 am.
The 960 competitors (360 primary and 600 secondary) represent their schools and local division with the aim of qualifying for the state championships.
All competitors have already been through two qualifying events to make it to Winton.
SSV Hume Region is delighted to that the Winton Motor Raceway readily accepted the hosting role for their Cross Country Championships for the first time this year.
The raceway and its surrounds provides a natural cross country setting, along with great competitor and spectator facilities.
As the course is in the centre of the Hume Region sports region, it also provides convenient access for all schools and their competitors.
