Passion drives the business
Benalla’s Mitchell Health Care has been selected as one of nine faces of small business in Victoria.
The Face of Business program is part of Victoria’s Small Business Festival, which runs until September 7.
Mitchell Health Care is an aged-care company which helps people manage dayto-day as they get older by manufacturing and supplying mobility products for the home-care and rehabilitation sector.
Tania Mitchell started the company 13 year ago, as she felt that the needs of older Victorians were often quite specific and there was a need for more personalised care and support.
‘‘I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, to serve and care, with a business where people like to work and can do a good job,’’ Tania said.
‘‘I wanted to work somewhere that craved customer service and that really valued it. I’m passionate about delivering that.’’
Tania feels she could not have grown the company on her own and credits her success to a number of people.
‘‘Business is never built solo,’’ she said.
‘‘Everyone who has supported this business is part of our growth and success.’’
Benalla Rural City Council Mayor Don Firth said small business was the backbone of the shire’s economy.
‘‘Small business is a major local employer, with more than 1500 small or microbusinesses operating in Benalla Rural City,’’ Cr Firth said.
‘‘Congratulations to Mitchell Health Care for being selected out of hundreds of entrants across Victoria and dozens from north-east Victoria on being named as a face of small business.’’
To celebrate small businesses, an exhibition of 23 photographs by local photographer Serena Hunt-Hughes showcasing local business owners is currently displayed at Serendipity Cafe´ and Bar until the end of August.
As part of the Small Business Festival, the North East Small Business Festival offers an exciting range of free and lowcost events, workshops and networking opportunities for new and established businesses.
Events and support services will take place across Wodonga, Wangaratta, Benalla, Indigo, Alpine and Towong council areas.
