Kook­abur­ras still on top

An out­stand­ing per­for­mance from Brian Har­ring­ton en­abled Kook­abur­ras to keep top spot on the Be­nalla Ta­ble Ten­nis Club’s win­ter com­pe­ti­tion.

The win came about in the com­pe­ti­tion’s 11th round, played last week.

Har­ring­ton won both sin­gles to lead his team to a 3-2 vic­tory against Wal­la­bies, in the clash of the round.

A fired-up Pos­sums posted a 4-1 vic­tory over Echid­nas. Cooper Ir­win was sen­sa­tional, play­ing bril­liantly to win both sin­gles in style.

Owls flexed their mus­cles, shrug­ging off Taipans in a 4-1 vic­tory. John Ba­jada starred, win­ning both sin­gles in ef­fort­less style.

Rosel­las held on to their top-four spot with a 5-0 thump­ing of Plovers. Adrian Squires and Col Ex­ton were too strong, ac­count­ing for all their matches in easy fash­ion.


Chris Lee gave Mozzies an em­phatic 4-1 vic­tory over Frogs in a tense af­fair. He won both sin­gles in hard-fought matches.

In an­other tough bat­tle, Glid­ers’ Ge­off Wal­lis pro­duced his best to help take the points from Wom­bats, win­ning both sin­gles for a 4-1 vic­tory.

Ea­gles were too strong for Red­backs, with Ni­cole Ir­win sup­port­ing Beth Grant, and play­ing well to win the dou­bles match in straight sets.

Num­bats beat Bul­lants in a 4-1 vic­tory. Ray Grant showed his class to win both sin­gles be­fore win­ning the dou­bles in straight sets.


Koalas edged out Crick­ets for a hard­fought 3-2 vic­tory. James Young was the star of the match.

Hawks had to fight hard to hold off Magpies, pre­vail­ing for a tense 3-2 vic­tory. Carol Chay starred for Magpies, win­ning both sin­gles in style.


The Bombers had a 4-1 win in a tough match against the Fal­cons in A-grade action. Four rub­bers went to three games.

In an­other close match the Wom­bats de­feated the Farm­ers 3-2. With the sin­gles scores even it was the dou­bles win which de­cided the match.

In B-grade the Vix­ens over­whelmed the Wed­gies, win­ning 5-0. At Ta­tong the Cranes had an easy 5-0 win against the Tur­tles.

And in a third 5-0 score­line, the Saints de­feated the Sharks com­pre­hen­sively.

The semi-fi­nals will be played tonight, with all A-grade sides play­ing at the Ta­tong Hall. B-grade’s top four teams will play at the Moorn­gag Hall.
