Aged-care workers celebrated
Benalla Health’s Nathan Willoughby narrowly missed out on a leadership award at the 2017 Celebrating Aged Care Awards.
Dedicated aged-care workers from the Wimmera, Kilmore and Gippsland regions took top honours this year.
Nathan was one of several finalists from towns and cities across Victoria, including Bairnsdale, Benalla, Echuca, Lorne and Maldon.
The awards were announced by Public Sector Residential Aged Care (PSRAC) Leadership Committee chair Don McRae, sponsor and Health Metrics chairman Steven Strange, and Victorian Healthcare Association chairman Tom Symondson.
Victorian Healthcare Association co-hosted the event at the MCG.
‘‘Aged care workers are a tireless bunch,’’ Mr McRae said.
‘‘There are no doubt easier ways to make a living, but very few are more rewarding.’’
The award winners and finalists in passion, leadership and volunteer categories were nominated by their workmates.
Celebrating Aged Care Week ran from August 14 to 18 and acknowledges the enormous contribution of Victoria’s thousands of aged care workers.
The Celebrating Aged Care Awards have been running since 2012 and is an initiative of the PSRAC.
The PSRAC is a network of public sector aged care directors of nursing committed to the improvement of the public residential aged care sector.
