Kookaburras take on Owls in grand final
Top sides in the Benalla Table Tennis Club’s winter competition have advanced through to the grand final.
Semi-final clashes held last week saw favourites Kookaburras and Owls progress to take their places in the grand final.
In A-grade action, Kookaburras ousted Wallabies 3-1 in a hard-fought contest.
Brian Harrington was at his best, playing impressively to take control and win his opening singles clash.
Owls booked their spot when they held off a determined Rosellas in a 3-2 victory.
John Bajada and Steve McCallum played brilliantly to win a singles each after taking the doubles.
Numbats took their chances against Mozzies to progress to the grand final.
They fought back for a dramatic 3-2 victory, with the result decided in the final singles.
Ray Grant was in form, playing well to gain victory in both singles in convincing manner.
Meanwhile, Gliders held off a determined Eagles unit, scoring an impressive 3-1 victory after a slow start.
Jack McNulty was on fire, producing his best form this season to account for both singles against class opponents.
Crickets earned their grand final spot when they held on to defeat Magpies 3-2 in a hardfought contest.
Heather Crawford was the standout, producing her best form at the right time to win both singles in tight matches.
Top-team Hawks showed their fighting spirit to snatch a 5-0 victory over Koalas in a spectacular clash.
Jackson Squires and Kaye Grosser had to fight hard for the win.
A-grade: Kookaburras v Owls B-grade: Numbats v Gliders C-grade: Hawks v Crickets
A-grade: The Falcons held on for a 3-2 win against the Eagles. The Falcons will face the Bombers in the grand final tonight at the Tatong Hall.
A-reserve: In another upset the Farmers defeated the Wombats 4-1. The Farmers will play the Tigers tonight in the grand-final at Tatong.
B-grade: The Vixens convincingly defeated the Saints 4-1. The Vixens will play the Cockies in the grand-final at the Tatong Hall.
