Current contributions by the Council
The Benalla Aeropark Club Incorporated is an association of ying members of the Gliding Club of Victoria that operates the caravan park at the Airport. These people share the running costs, maintenance and development of the Aeropark and its facilities to provide accommodation at the airport. The Council has provided land to the Gliding Club of Victoria, which is leased under a peppercorn rent arrangement The Benalla Aeropark Club Incorporated pays no rent and rates for the use of the site. Gliding Club of Victoria members are charged site fees by their club for use of the facility. The State Gliding Centre (the Club House) currently pays no rent or rates to the Council or community. The Council contributes $16,592 per year to the Gliding Club of Victoria towards the maintenance of the grounds (including weed control, grass cutting, plumbing, lighting and signage). The Council has gifted two huts to the Gliding Club of Victoria, which are adjacent to the Aeropark. The Gliding Club of Victoria members store approximately 60 glider trailers on the site at no charge. The Gliding Club of Victoria has the use of all airport facilities (including runways, taxiways, hardstand park, roads).
