Friday night spectacular saves show
The Benalla Show was saved by the Friday night spectacular which included first class show jumpers and the Magical Mini-Fun cars.
Every cloud has a silver lining with the 1992 show a big success despite the atrocious weather.
Show Society secretary Barbara Stephens said it could worse.
Despite flood warnings and continued rain, crowds packed into the Benalla Showgrounds on Friday night.
‘‘Numbers were not down much overall,’’ Mrs Stephens said.
It was the first time the Friday night under lights have been much had been held and it was a credit to show organisers.
Despite a 45-minute blackout, the ‘showies’ switched on their generators and side show alley was packed out.
Last year’s show attracted record numbers and Mrs Stephens said numbers this year were probably higher than some of the better shows in the past.
The highlight of the night was the Nyree Mini-Fun Cars, which had the crowd packed 20 deep around the showgrounds.
‘‘They were absolutely fantastic,’’ Mrs Stephens said.
