Oktoberfest thrills crowd
Oktoberfest Benalla was even bigger than anticipated and organisers are thrilled the community supported the event.
The event attracted a range of people young and old including families, teenagers, out-of-towners and many locals.
Organisers Andrew Vale and Geoff Schwind said the support had been phenomenal and the day couldn’t have been better.
‘‘The SHED encouraged people to drink responsibly and we wanted to thank everyone who came and just made the most of it,’’ Mr Vale said.
“It was incredible to see groups of people enjoying the food and atmosphere.
‘‘We couldn’t have done it without the support of the locals.’’
The venue was an ideal area to host the event and allowed for a range of amusements including Shetland ponies, jumping castles, clowns and a pirate ship.
The German Beer Hall was popular, with patrons reserving tables to make sure they got the best seat in the house.
The spring weather was also perfect for Oktoberfest and there were no seats to spare outside.
The mood was festive, with people going to the effort of dressing up, entering themselves in the competitions and enjoying the food and imported German beer.
Organisers hope to make Oktoberfest Benalla an annual event and are already planning for next year.
Oktoberfest Benalla provided a great excuse to dress-up.
