Greenway victorious in club event
October has been a busy month at the Benalla Croquet Club — with a come and try day, new players taking to the court, and the monthly championship.
The club’s come and try day was held on October 4, and saw a number of new players venture onto the courts to join members in playing croquet.
The October Club Championship was also run and was won by Steven Greenway, with Annette Adkins as the runner up.
Greenway only started playing croquet earlier this year and was a worthy winner of this month’s championship.
In a close game, the match was decided on the last hoop.
Members of the club have been attending various social days in the northeast region this month.
Bruce Blay won the social Corowa last Saturday, playing members from other clubs.
The annual Benalla Festival Golf Croquet event is being held at the club on November 9, and there has been strong interest from clubs in the north east region who are attending this event.
Members of the public are welcome to come to the club on the day to watch the event, which starts at 10 am.
A number of members have entered into the NEDCA Golf Croquet day being held at the club on the following Thursday, November 16.
If you have an interest in croquet, or just wish to watch the game being played Benalla Croquet Club holds club days each Tuesday and Thursday mornings starting at 9 am for a 9.30 start.
