Fun for all players
Benalla Lawn Tennis Club’s 92nd annual tournament is gearing up for Melbourne Cup weekend.
Club president Peter Jewell said the tournament would cater for all ages and abilities.
The club’s 24 grass courts are in great condition, he said, and competitors would be assured of at least two sets with the popular round-robin format of the tournament.
Players will be able to play singles, doubles and mixed doubles during the three days of competition, which has now been running for 91 years.
Saturday, November 4, will see singles action with the mens and ladies open, A, B and C-grades for adults and boys and girls under15, 13 and 11.
On the Sunday doubles players will be catered for with A, B and C-grade mens and ladies doubles, as well as boys and girls under-15, 13 and 11 doubles.
On Sunday evening, the everpopular trivia night will again be held with lots of laughs and great prizes promised.
The final day of the tournament will be on Melbourne Cup day with mixed doubles with A, B, C and D-grade for juniors and beginners.
Players will also have the opportunity to win tickets to the 2018 Australian Tennis Open in Melbourne as well as watch the big race on a big screen.
Entry forms can be obtained from the clubhouse or by phoning club president Peter Jewell on 0407 519 249.
