A man has been ar­rested for al­legedly ram­ming a po­lice car in Be­nalla on Satur­day night, while of­fi­cers were at­tend­ing another call.

Po­lice were called to a home in Faith­ful St about 7 pm, due to re­ports of fam­ily vi­o­lence.

Po­lice al­lege a man ar­rived at the prop­erty and be­came ar­gu­men­ta­tive with po­lice be­fore get­ting into his car.

He al­legedly crashed into the unoc­cu­pied di­vi­sional van and fled the scene be­fore of­fi­cers could de­tain him.

There were no re­ported in­juries. The di­vi­sional van was not drive­able, but was not con­sid­ered a write-off.

The man was on the run from po­lice un­til Sun­day af­ter­noon when he sur­ren­dered him­self to Be­nalla Po­lice Sta­tion.

Po­lice con­firmed the man was granted bail and was set to ap­pear at Be­nalla Mag­is­trates’ Court on Fe­bru­ary 27.
