Con­crete jobs boost

The State Gov­ern­ment last week an­nounced that a $60 mil­lion pre­cast con­crete man­u­fac­tur­ing fa­cil­ity will be built in Be­nalla, cre­at­ing 400 new jobs.

The site of the new fa­cil­ity will be 270 Mur­ray Road. It will be op­er­ated by lo­cal busi­nesses and will sup­ply com­po­nents to ma­jor Vic­to­rian in­fra­struc­ture projects, in­clud­ing the West Gate Tun­nel project.

A new 700 me­tre rail sid­ing will be built along the ex­ist­ing rail line in Be­nalla to pro­vide a di­rect link be­tween the pre­cast fa­cil­ity and Melbourne.

Con­struc­tion of the fa­cil­ity is due to com­mence in March 2018 and be op­er­a­tional from Oc­to­ber 2018.

An in­for­ma­tion ses­sion for lo­cal busi­nesses to gain in­sight into the West Gate Tun­nel project will be held on Thurs­day 22 Fe­bru­ary 2018 from 4pm – 6pm at BPACC.
