Concrete jobs boost
The State Government last week announced that a $60 million precast concrete manufacturing facility will be built in Benalla, creating 400 new jobs.
The site of the new facility will be 270 Murray Road. It will be operated by local businesses and will supply components to major Victorian infrastructure projects, including the West Gate Tunnel project.
A new 700 metre rail siding will be built along the existing rail line in Benalla to provide a direct link between the precast facility and Melbourne.
Construction of the facility is due to commence in March 2018 and be operational from October 2018.
An information session for local businesses to gain insight into the West Gate Tunnel project will be held on Thursday 22 February 2018 from 4pm – 6pm at BPACC.
