New childcare centre to open
Benalla’s parents will have even more early learning options with the news that a new childcare centre is due to open next year.
ACC Early Learners aims to provide much-needed preschool and long day care places for children in Benalla and its surrounding townships.
The centre will by run by qualified early childhood professionals and operate on the campus of Australian Christian College at 21 Sydney Rd.
Centre director Norm Fitzgerald said ACC Early Learners was committed to helping parents who were juggling work and study commitments, volunteering, caring for aged or disabled relatives or who were in hardship situations, with outstanding care, fun and learning opportunities for their young children.
‘‘ACC Early Learners is responding to the community’s needs by offering long day care for three and four year olds, before and after-school care and holiday programs,’’ Mr Fitzgerald said.
‘‘There is demand for long day care services in Benalla, particularly from double-income families where both parents are working or studying.
‘‘This trend will continue with new jobs being created as a result of industry growth in the region.
‘‘ACC Early Learners gives parents access to affordable, quality long day care right here in Benalla.
‘‘We believe all children should have the best possible start to their learning journey. This includes school readiness programs as well as literacy, numeracy, music, art and sport.
‘‘The centre will embed the federally- adopted Early Years Learning Framework into all its practices and ensure every child is well known, well loved and well taught.’’
The new childcare centre is rapidly filling its originally intended 22 places, but has the capacity to expand to 44 places, should demand require.
Parents and carers wanting to place their child on the waiting list should visit accearlylearners.org.au or phone 5762 4476.
