There was no local competition for hockey during the school holidays, however, Alex and Evan Dowe travelled to Melbourne to compete in the Junior State Championships for the past week.

Alex Dowe played in the North East Knights Under-15 boys team.

He played centre back, right back and left back positions.

After winning three out of four games in the pool rounds, the NE Knights U15 team played off against the top two teams from the other pool with a win and a draw.

The Knights U15 team then played for third place at 11.30 am at the SNHC on Friday. They finished in third place overall after a 3-2 win against the Southern Metro Sharks.

A great week of hockey for the boys.

Evan Dowe played his final Junior State Championships last week, with the Knights Under-17 boys team.

While their tournament has not been as successful with one win, one draw and four losses, he has been able to display his versatility as a player across all areas of the field and was one of the few goal scorers.

The U17s played off for seventh position against the Southern Metro Sharks on Friday at 2 pm. They won the game 3-1. This weeks local games are: Under-10s play Mooroopna in Shepparton at 9.30 am on Pitch 2.

Under-16s play Mooroopna in Shepparton at 11 am on Pitch 1. B-Women have a bye. B-Men play Euroa in Shepparton.

Championship effort: Evan Dowe, playing in his finals game for North East Knights, hits out in defence after a penalty call for the Southern Metro Sharks.
