A HINO light truck driven by 61-year-old Mick Privitera was vital to the success of the biggest event on Palm Island during NAIDOC celebrations.
Mick owns Brisbane company Australian Concert Productions and the 2003 Hino FG transported the equipment for a Unity Gala Party on July 16 beside the beach.
The company also has a Cairns depot and a big thank you to Mick for letting Big Rigs snap his picture in front of the Hino after midnight.
“We brought over the sound, vision and lighting equipment and the stage,” Mick told Big Rigs.
“I purchased the Hino 10 years ago second hand on the Gold Coast and it is perfect for the job.”
Mick said the trusty Hino travels all over Queensland and has been to Palm Island at least six times.
National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observation Committee (NAIDOC) Week is held during July and is a celebration of history, culture and achievements of Australia’s indigenous people.
“I have been doing this since 1978,” Mick told Big Rigs.
