WORRIED about being photographed because the truck was dirty, when we ran into him on the back of Mount Wellington delivering firewood the other day, we pointed out that a truck which works in the forests in a Tasmanian winter, cutting, and then delivering, firewood would be pretty unusual if it wasn’t dirty!
So happily our old mate Barry Clarke from Oatlands agreed to be photographed.
He had been delivering a load of wood to customers in the Collinsvale area.
He was driving his 2002 Mitsubishi 4 wheel drive Canter with a long body tipper when we caught up with him.
“Well I find this the ideal truck for the job,” Barry told us.
“It’s quite big enough for my needs, and reliable which is very important, and it’s great out in the bush where I work, mostly up on the Western Tiers.
“There’s certainly a good bit of snow up there too at the moment, and that always makes life interesting, but she handles it all, no worries.
“I am keeping myself too busy just now; in fact the firewood keeps me flat out most of the year, though I do knock off to go carting grain.”
