AN EXTRA HOUR: Truckies have mixed view on NHVR plan

THE NHVR is still seeking feedback on a proposed national work and rest exemption notice that would allow drivers to use their vehicle for an hour over their fatigue management limit.

Drivers have had mixed feelings about the proposal and have shared their views.

Timothy M: I don’t agree with ANOTHER hour.

We are being stretched now, imagine if bosses could stretch us ANOTHER hour?

I wish they’d take hours off us, maybe 10 hour days would be perfect thankyou.

A lot less accidents then, that’s for sure.

Jason M: I always said this when bobtail why can’t we do stuff off the book?

As rob said going to the shops, doctors etc.

We are humans without a car in another state or town away from home.

This should have been implemented years ago.

Tony S: I’d like to volunteer for a 12moth NO LOGBOOK survey, to prove they are nothing but revenue makers. All I want is the parking bays needed to accomplish the task.. mmmmmm.

Keith M: Pointless if you can’t park your truck in majority of towns and residential areas!

Vicki S: A truck of Bus

driver gets a $700 + fine for working 15 minutes over, Every other worker gets overtime!

Can someone explain that?

Christo S: A Log book makes you keep going to do your 12 hours a day but simple small stop here and there will ruin you at the end week it forces you to stay at it and not stop.

CONSIDERING OPTIONS: An extra hour for personal use at the end of a long day will give drivers a little flexibility.
