Big Rigs - - TRUCKIN’ ON THE BORDER WITH DAVID VILE -

WARMING up the Cummins engine in his Ford Louisville and taking the time to have a chat with Big Rigs recently was Alby Maras of Jingellic, in southern New South Wales.

Alby had the 1984-model LNT tipper on display at the annual Historic Machinery Rally in Corryong which saw a range of historic and restored trucks on show.

Alby has owned the Ford for seven years, initially using it as a workhorse before retiring the truck.

“It’s done over a million k’s, it was worked to death and I have rebuilt it from the ground up over five years,” he said.

The 903 Cummins under the Ford’s bonnet puts out 295 horsepower and is coupled to a 13-speed Road-Ranger, with the cabin and interior being overhauled as well as the body and mechanicals.

Alby runs the Louisville on club registration and uses it to tow a trailer with his Chamberlain tractor to machinery shows around southern New South Wales and north-eastern Victoria.
