MANY truckies are genuine Aussie characters and that is the case with Gladstone-based driver Scott Fry, a former butcher.
Outside work, one of Scott’s recreations is hunting deers, which he has done with some success around Gympie.
Scott drives a Kenworth K200 for B&K Haulage and was parked up in Townsville on October 13 when I yarned to him.
“I am carrying cement powder between Cairns and Townsville and have been a truckie for about five years after being a butcher,” he said.
The 36-year-old said it was a top truck and was swift with a response when asked the worst road he gets along.
“It would have to be the section of the Flinders Highway between Hughenden and Richmond,” he said.
Scott’s main dislike whilst travelling the highways and byways are “idiot caravan and car drivers who put lives at risk”.
