Best things about a truckie life
TO CELEBRATE our new section all about careers and training, we asked you what you thought were the best things about being a truck driver.
Callum Johnstone said it was driving past children and the give you the “big arm pump for the air horn, I never get sick of that”.
Donna Rock thought it was the money.
“There aren’t many positions out there that pay me what I earn without higher eduction,” she said.
“Oh and the view each day.”
Gavin Summerville agreed with Donna about the view.
“Some people pay thousands for it and we get it for free,” he said.
Danny Boronski said it was knowing his contribution behind the scenes of day-to-day life provided food “in tummies”, clothes to wear, houses to live in and so on.
“My little bit to helping society out,” he said.
For Mat Turnbull, it was the little things such as listening to the radio.
“Not many bosses let you have the radio as loud as you like and give you a bed behind your desk,” he said.
