Runners reunion catch-up

Big Rigs - - NEWS -

INTERSTATE truck driver Moe Byard loves to catch up with mates from the good ol’ days.

He said the last great catch up he had with his mates was at The Pacific Highway Runners Reunion in Grafton a couple of years ago.

He said he loved it, just for the chance to see what everyone was up to.

And it’s also for that reason that he’s looking forward to the next reunion, coming up next week on Saturday, February 17.

Moe grew up around trucks, his dad was a truck driver too, and he said mateship was one of the things that had changed in the time he started driving.

“There’s no mateship anymore,” he said.

Grafton Truck Drivers Social Club publicity officer Bec Jacobs said that the reunion was great for truck drivers to catch up and meet people who they might talk to on the road but haven’t actually met before.

“There are a lot of retired drivers out there so it’s nice for them to be able to catch up with people they may have worked or travelled with on the road as well,” she said.
