Grafton Truck Show is a hell of a day out

Big Rigs - - NEWS -

THE atmosphere the night before a truck show is so exciting, says Grafton Truck Drivers Social Club publicist Bec Jacobs.

“You can feel the electricity in the air, the smell of kerosene, truck wash, tyre shine and polish. Not to mention the pride the drivers take in their rigs is fantastic,” she said.

“A lot of work goes into prepping for a truck show, the long nights and little sleep is worth it in the end.”

Bec is currently in the throes of prepping for the Grafton Truck Show to be held on Saturday, June 9, which is hosted by the Grafton Truck Drivers Social Club.

This year’s event will again be held at the Clarence River Jockey Club. All the action will kick off at Jacaranda Park on the corner of Hoof and Prince Sts, where drivers will need to pay $30 to enter the parade and nominate their categories for judging.

The parade will start at 10am and gates to the racecourse will open about 11.30am, once the last truck has been parked.

Some of the “best” categories include Best Scania, Best Volvo, Best Mack, Best Freightliner, Best Western Star, Best Kenworth, Best Other Makes and Best Fleet.

Everyone is welcome on the day. There will be rides and activities such as the Sand Wizard, a jumping castle and Merry-Go-Round for the children, market and trade stalls as well as a chance to wander through the truck display.

The Ulmarra “Chip-in” Cup Day is on again so there will also be races happening.

“This year I look forward to seeing our repeat customers and some new ones as well,” Bec said.

If anyone would like any information regarding the show, the club can be contacted by email via graftontruckclub@
