Study makes deadly claims

TRUCK driving is Australia’s most deadliest job, according to a new study by Monash University.

The study highlighted the fact that truck drivers are 13 times more likely to die at work than any other profession.

The study, based on claims from a 12-year period, said lack of control also made it one of the unhealthiest job. Big Rigs social media users shared their thoughts on the study.

■ Ian Allert: I take issue with the reference to the scrapping of the RSRT.

It would have been a fantastic bit of policy if it applied to everyone.

It only applied to owner drivers, therefore the policy ended up where it belongs in the bin.

■ Bob Prideaux: If this number of deaths occurred in the airline industry, there would be a public outcry.

■ James Camro: The only way you are going to make it better is to get rid of logbooks we are not robots we all run under different body clocks.
