Ken Thirlwell

“IT’S been an interesting and very wet day, picking up a B-double load of sawn timber from Southwood down the Huon, and now taking that up to Neville Smith at Mowbray, change trailers, knock off and get ready to do it all again tomorrow,” Ken Thirlwell from Launceston said.

After spending most of the day in the rain, he added it would be good to get changed and warm and dry again too.

He was driving a 2013 Toll FH-16 with a 600Hp Volvo up front, and had dropped in to Mood Food for some hot tucker and a great cuppa as well.

“I’ve been with Toll now for five years, starting with four years casual in Burnie, and happily now being full-time out of Launceston,” he said.

“I’ve actually been on the road since I was 22 so it’s pretty well been a lifetime career, and one that I have thoroughly enjoyed all along, especially in a big warm comfortable truck like the Volvo on a day like this. No real regrets, other than the occasional grumble every now and then, but that’s life, isn’t it?”

He told us that time off is spent with motorbikes when possible. He has a dual sport KTM that he rides on and off the road.
