M1’s traffic is getting worse

NEWS of the Queensland Government’s failure to fix traffic congestion on the M1 between Brisbane and the Gold Coast is a surprise to no one, least of all truck drivers.

Truckies aired their views about the state of traffic congestion on the highway via the Big Rigs Facebook page.

Matt Byrne was one such truckie who was not surprised one bit.

“That road is useless,” he said.

Bradley Dunham agreed. “Lol. A shock – no.” Benjamin James Murray took issue with the fact that “so many light vehicles travel less than one second apart”.

“The car up front slows down a small amount, then the next car puts the brakes on and then each car behind slows down more than the one in front, until eventually the traffic comes to a complete stop,” he said.

Responding to a comment from Ian O’Neill who pointed out it was a “domino effect” that happens all the time, he said:

“It’s a definite issue but most drivers have no discipline so it will never change.”
