To The Grave
Where are you from?
Who is in your band?
Jeff Martinez (guitar), John Flaws (guitar), Matt Clarke (bass); Simon O’Malley (drums) and Dane Evans (vocals).
Who are some of your influences?
Bands like The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel and All Shall Perish. We’re all about balancing melody with being brutal and heavy.
Where can we normally find you playing?
We’re currently on our third national tour and playing all up and down the east coast.
Tell us about your best show.
All the shows on tour with Lynchmada last year were awesome but the first show in Orange was the wildest. We had a packed venue, old guys haggling for merch by whipping their junk out, and it ended with one band’s drummer dolphin flipping into the headliner’s drum kit and smashing his head open. Good times.
Tell us about your worst show.
We made the mistake of playing a show with just new material in the middle of
writing the album and our drummer completely forgot one of the songs, so we had to cut it half way. Not good at the time, but funny as hell now.
Tell us your three favourite bands.
We get pretty burnt out on metal on tour when listening to four or five bands a night so we like to crank out Eminem, some podcasts and whatever solo-shredwank our guitarists are into at the time.
Tell us about your latest release.
We’ve just released out debut album Expect Resistance. Lots of crushing breakdowns, shredding solos and killer riffs. We spent a lot of time perfecting these songs and so far we’re hearing lots of good feedback and the new songs have been going off live.
Slayer or Metallica?
Pantera, because they were smart enough to break up before they ruined their credibility with shitty albums.
